A/Prof Erin O’Connor
Most Australians die in hospital and many families say they were unsure of the person’s wishes or that they knew what the person wanted but they were unsure about how to prepare for the end of life stage.
My role is to provide non-judgemental support to individuals and families who wish to explore their options and preferences at the end of life.
Through education, communication, and being open with loved ones, options for this stage become more available.
End of Life and death care is a passion and I work part time and flexibly at End in Mind. The comination of psychology and death doula services I offer are based on common needs of those living with a terminal illness or who may be considering or engaging with palliative care.
The rest of the week, I’m a full time psychologist and academic. I work to train new psychologists and other caring professionals. I have won a number of awards for my training including the Australian Psycholgical Society’s Early Career Teacher award.
